I am the Book Buyer at an independent bookstore in Rhode Island. I have been working in bookstores for more than 25 years. I was trying to decide on the perfect literary quote for my tattoo and after being unable to pick just one, I went with something original and personal. I am a drug addict in recovery and my love of books and working with them has probably saved my life. If I hadn’t been such a mess in my earlier years I would have gotten a degree and been a librarian :)
I recently earned my MLIS (December 2012) and I’m searching for employment. One awesome interview so far! (I should hear back next week.) I’ve been planning this piece for over a year and I finally took the plunge yesterday. I love her!
I’m currently attending library school through UW-Milwaukee. I have a total of six tattoos, most of them literary (I was an English major as an undergrad), but my biggest and most colorful tat is an ode to Flannery O’Connor on my left forearm. Work done by Keith at Skinprints in Eau Claire, WI - he loves peacock feathers, and draws them beautifully.
Formerly the Chicago Underground Library, Read/Write Library will be hosting a grand opening celebration tomorrow night in their shiny new space. For more details, go here.
I hope to see some tattooed librarians and archivists out there wishing this organization well!
